Ocean Rock
By Velton Hayworth
When it comes to good seafood restaurants in Fort Worth the list is short. So when I walked into Ocean Rock I was not expecting much. I walked in and sat at the bar and was immediately greeted by the bartender and given a menu. Looking around, I noticed the guest next to me was eating some kind of sandwich. The bartender told me it was the Yellow Fin Tuna Sammy. It sounded good so I gave it a shot. Great call! I had my tuna blackened instead of grilled. The sandwich is served with lettuce, tomato, pickle and a honey-lime dressing on the side. I was pleasantly surprised by the dressing, and saved half of it to accompany my fries. No ketchup needed here. The tuna was cooked to perfection and the sandwich was one of the best that I have ever had here or at any seaside restaurant. I almost forgot that I was hours away from the nearest coast line. There is something for everyone at Ocean Rock: shrimpchiladas, fish tacos, Creole shrimp pasta bowls, fried catfish, gumbo, and steaks and burgers for those who do not like seafood. Ocean rock has a great atmosphere; you can sit at the bar and have an appetizer (maybe the Caribbean nachos) and a martini while you watch your favorite sports team. (Don't worry it's not a sports bar.) The TV does not interfere with the quaint atmosphere of the dining area. Ocean Rock is open 7 days a week until 11 pm. I don't agree with the quote on the menu that it's "a pretty good bar and seafood joint." It's a great bar and seafood joint. Check it out; if you love seafood Ocean Rock is a must.
