Nita Strauss put on a blistering 45 minute set Thursday night at Trees.

Strauss’s set, including a few covers, was chock full of songs from her solo album “Controlled Chaos,” and her energy and mastery of the guitar showed why she is in demand by the likes of rock legend Alice Cooper and venues around the world.

Strauss started the night out with “Pandemonium” off “Controlled Chaos” and was later joined on stage by singer Kore Rozzik as they covered “Eighteen” by Alice Cooper.

A few songs later Strauss broke into some Iron Maiden, much to the delight of the crowd as they sang along.

Strauss paid respect to the beloved local rock legends Vinnie Paul and Dimebag (RIP) and mentioned the upcoming anniversary of Vinnie’s death. “Give it up for him and Dimebag,” said Strauss to the roar of the crowd.

Strauss finished up the night with “Most Desperate Hour,” also from her solo album, leaving the crowd wanting more, more, more.

Nita Strauss comes from a strong line of classical musicians, and that lineage shines through in all her sonic endeavors.

Strauss started getting international attention for her work with The Iron Maidens (an all-female Iron Maiden cover band) from 2011-15. She has toured the world, playing guitar for the likes of Femme Fatale, Jermaine Jackson and Alice Cooper, but her most notable accomplishments are her riffs on her solo album, “Controlled Chaos.”
