Day Break Cafe delivers lots of food without breaking the bank

Daybreak Cafe, located amid the auto repair shops on White Settlement Road and just a couple blocks east of the FWISD administration building, is a classic working stiff’s joint with lots of food for not much money.

The Daybreak’s double burger with cheese is a substantial feast, equivalent in heft and flavor to Fort Worth burger big shots (that’d be Fred’s and Kincaid’s, if you’re Not From Around Here) but Daybreak’s is less than half the price of either. (In fairness to Fred’s, the burger at Daybreak doesn’t come with fries, but y’know…) What you don’t get at Daybreak is “atmosphere,” but the quality and price make it an outstanding value.

Open daily from 5 a.m. to 4 p.m., Daybreak is best known as a breakfast joint and even the most filling of dishes are less than 5 bucks, like the chicken fried steak and eggs ($4.89). Our weekend fave, however, is the breakfast burrito, which comes stuffed with enough protein to get you through an afternoon of yard work. We can never choose between the bacon and sausage, so we wind up doing one of each.

At less than 3 buck per burrito, can you blame us?

DayBreak Cafe, 2720 White Settlement Road, Fort Worth. (817) 335-0805.
