The Texas A&M University System officially opened its new downtown Fort Worth campus on August 5, 2026, with a grand opening ceremony for the flagship Law & Education Building.
The completion of this initial facility marks the first major milestone of a planned multi-block, $1.5 billion urban campus. It is designed to act as the primary catalyst for the new Switchyard Innovation District in southeast downtown Fort Worth. Inside the Law & Education Building. The newly minted $200 million flagship facility stands eight stories tall and spans over 228,000 square feet.
It houses the Texas A&M School of Law along with programs from Texas A&M University and Tarleton State University covering engineering, business, healthcare, pharmacy, biotechnology, and medical laboratory sciences.
Six Texas A&M System agencies call the building home, including the Texas A&M Transportation Institute and the Texas Division of Emergency Management.
The interior features interactive displays, immersive nursing simulation suites, robotics labs, and a Mobile Health Assessment Center.
Future Campus Expansion will Immediately follow the ribbon-cutting for the first building, university leaders held a groundbreaking ceremony for the second phase of development.
The Research & Innovation Building-A, this 11-story hub is scheduled for completion in 2029. It will provide co-working space for university researchers, public entities, and private sector partners collaborating in aerospace, medicine, virtual production, and transportation.
The entire master-planned campus is expected to eventually encompass five buildings. Future plans include a performance, visualization, and fine arts building, alongside an additional gateway facility. Local officials project that the completed development will support more than 25,000 direct and indirect regional jobs and generate over $3 billion in annual economic impact.
