TCU Football Announces 33 Signings

TCU Head Football Coach Sonny Dykes announced the signing of 33 student-athletes on Wednesday.

Eighteen of the 21 high school signees are from the state of Texas.

The Horned Frogs’ class is rated third in the Big 12 by 247Sports.

TCU’s transfer portal class is ranked fourth nationally. 

Twenty of TCU’s newcomers, including 11 of 12 transfers, will enroll for the spring semester.

Gekyle Baker (WR, 6-3, 175, Brownsboro, Texas; Brownsboro High School)
Four-star recruit … rated the nation’s No. 23 wide receiver and No. 106 overall player … the No. 16 prospect in Texas … ranks first or second for nine school records at Brownsboro … the program’s career leader in receptions (147), receiving yards (2,616), touchdowns (30) and single-game receiving yards (253) … places second in single-game receptions (12) and touchdowns (4) as well as season marks for receptions (51), yards (1,081) and touchdowns (12) … totaled 45 catches, 823 yards and 10 touchdowns his senior year … had 51 receptions as both a sophomore and junior … posted 712 yards and eight receiving scores as a junior … totaled 1,081 yards and 12 touchdowns his sophomore year … also played basketball and ran track … Texas 4A regional qualifier in the 200 meters and high jump as a sophomore … also competed on Brownsboro’s regional-qualifying 4×100 relay … ran wind-legal 200-meter times of 22.30, 22.34, and 22.44, plus a wind-aided 21.80 … high jumped 6-4 and long jumped 19-5 in April 2022 … Tyler Morning Telegraph All-East Texas honorable mention in basketball as a sophomore … helped Brownsboro to a 27-10 record and the third round of the Texas 4A playoffs.

Creece Brister (OL, 6-5, 310, Stephenville, Texas; Stephenville High School)
Rated by 247Sports as the nation’s No. 64 interior offensive lineman and No. 119 prospect in Texas … three-star recruit … helped lead Stephenville to a 9-3 record and Texas 4A Division I second-round playoff appearance his junior year … District 5-4A Division I First Team selection as a sophomore when the Yellow Jackets went 16-0 and won the state title … also competed in track and field … won the Texas 4A shot put championship as a junior with a 58-0.5 … set a shot put career best with a 59-0 … placed second at state in the discus with a personal-best 168-3.

Sterlin Brooks (DL, 6-3, 320, Fort Worth, Texas; North Crowley High School)
Three-star signee … ranked by 247Sports as the No. 186 defensive lineman in the country and No. 263 prospect in Texas … helped lead North Crowley to the Texas 6A Division I semifinals his senior year and third round as a junior.

Carson Bruno (OL, 6-4, 312, Shreveport, La.; C.E. Byrd High School; Louisiana Tech)
Started all 24 games the last two seasons for Louisiana Tech … played at right tackle in 2023 … Honorable-Mention Conference USA in the 2022 campaign as well as being on the Conference USA All-Freshman Team that season.

Samir Camacho (OL, 6-4, 290, Houston, Texas; Cy Falls High School)
A three-star prospect … rated the nation’s No. 88 interior lineman by 247Sports … the No. 150 overall recruit in Texas … also competed in track and field … had a 106-0 discus throw as a junior. 

Ethan Craw (PK/P, 6-3, 210, Tasmania, Australia; Pro Kick Academy)
Attended the same kicking academy in Australia as former TCU punter Jordy Sandy.

Drake Dabney (TE, 6-5, 248, Cypress, Texas; Cypress Ranch High School; Baylor)
Honorable-Mention All-Big 12 this year … set a Baylor season record for receiving yards by a tight end with 552 … led the Bears with five touchdown catches … had a team-best four receptions for 77 yards against TCU this year … topped 100 yards on two occasions, including 105 and a career-long 63-yard touchdown as part of four grabs at Kansas State … his 101 yards in the season opener against Texas State marked Baylor’s first 100-yard game by a tight end in 59 years … his 33 receptions in 2023 surpassed his career total of 32 in three seasons entering this fall … had a 21-yard touchdown catch versus TCU in 2021 … rated by ESPN as the nation’s No. 14 tight end at Cypress Ranch … 247Sports ranked him as the No. 83 overall recruit in Texas.

Devean Deal (DL, 6-4, 245, El Paso, Texas; Naaman Forest High School; Tulane)
Honorable-Mention All-AAC for Tulane this season … recorded a team-best 12.0 tackles for loss while tying for fourth with 4.0 sacks … had 15.5 TFLs among 70 stops in 28 career games for the Green Wave … consensus three-star prospect out of Naaman Forest … rated as a Top 250 prospect in Texas by ESPN.com.

Kaleb Elarms-Orr (LB, 6-2, 220, Hayward, Calif.; Moreau Catholic High School; Cal)
Second-Team All-Pac-12 this season … led Cal with 92 tackles, including a career-high 16 against Arizona State … also had a team-best six quarterback hurries to go with 3.5 tackles for loss, a sack, interception, forced fumble and fumble recovery … placed third in the Pac-12 with his 8.4 tackles per game … four-star recruit out of Moreau Catholic by 247Sports and ESPN … rated by 247Sports as the nation’s No. 16 weakside defensive end and No. 18 overall player in California. 

Dozie Ezukanma (WR, 6-3, 180, Fort Worth, Texas; Timber Creek High School)
Three-star signee … ranked by 247Sports as the No. 117 wide receiver in the country and No. 124 prospect in Texas … had 52 receptions for 877 yards and 12 touchdowns as a senior … totaled 42 receptions for 587 yards and six touchdowns his junior year … added a kickoff return for a touchdown … also competed in track and field … recorded personal-bests of 21.4.25 in the long jump and 39-1.75 in the triple jump as a sophomore … brother, Erik Ezukanma, was a wide receiver at Texas Tech and with the Miami Dolphins. 

Bless Harris (OL, 6-5, 326, New Orleans, La.; St. Augustine High School; Florida State)
Made five starts while playing in 11 games for Florida State this season … started for the Seminoles in the 2022 opener before being sidelined for the year by injury … began his collegiate career at Lamar, playing two seasons for the Cardinals.

Wesley Harvey (OL, 6-8, 280, Muskogee, Okla.; Muskogee High School)
Ranked by 247Sports as the nation’s No. 65 offensive tackle and No. 10 overall recruit in Oklahoma … helped lead Muskogee to the Class 6A II state championship his senior year.

Hauss Hejny (QB, 6-0, 190, Aledo, Texas; Aledo High School)
Four-star signee … ranked by 247Sports as the nation’s No. 12 quarterback recruit, No. 30 overall player in Texas and No. 182 nationally … invited to the All-American Bowl and Elite 11 Finals … led Aledo to back-to-back 5A Division I state championships his junior and senior years … closed his prep career with 30 straight victories as a starting quarterback … passed for nearly 2,800 yards and 27 touchdowns as a senior, including 202 yards and two scores in the title game … ran for 1,041 yards and 13 scores on the ground … the Texas District 3-5A Division I Overall Most Valuable Player his junior year … threw for 2,094 yards and 20 touchdowns while rushing for 1,276 yards and 15 scores … the Texas District 5-5A Division I Newcomer of the Year as a sophomore … also competed in track and field with a 10.9 time in the 100 and a 20-10.5 in the long jump … father, Jesse, was a two-year TCU football letterman (2004-05) as a defensive lineman while mother, JimAnne, was a women’s basketball and track and field student-athlete for the Horned Frogs. 

Devyn Hidrogo (S, 6-0, 190, Franklin, Texas; Franklin High School)
Three-star recruit … rated by the 247Sports Composite as the nation’s No. 85 safety and No. 125 overall prospect in Texas … helped lead Franklin to the Class 3A Division I state championship game as a senior after his school won the title his junior and sophomore years … had a season-best 146 rushing yards on five carries, including three touchdowns, in a win over Hallettsville … rushed for 102 yards in an area playoff victory over Shepherd … totaled 29 tackles, five interceptions and 13 pass breakups as a junior … returned two of his picks for touchdowns … also played basketball and competed in track and field … Texas 3A regional qualifier in the long jump with a 22-3 to win an area championship as a junior … finished fourth at regionals with a wind-aided 22-3 … also high jumped 5-10 and triple jumped 39-9 … placed sixth as a sophomore at the Texas 3A Region III high jump finals with a 6-2 … ran an 11.08 in the 100.

Mitch Hodnett (OL, 6-5, 290, Monroe, La.; Sterlington High School)
Rated the nation’s No. 72 interior offensive lineman and Louisiana’s No. 29 overall prospect in the 247Sports Composite … three-star prospect … primarily a left tackle his junior year … also competed in track and field … a Louisiana 3A top-five finisher in the state shot put finals with a 48-2 his junior year …  threw 48-2.75 and 48-2 two more times earlier in the outdoor campaign … placed third in the Louisiana 3A indoor shot put finals with a 48-8.25 … finished third as a sophomore in the state shot put with a 47-9.75 … won a regional championship as a sophomore with a 47-11 … claimed fourth place at the Louisiana 3A indoor shot put finals with a 46-0 … also a state qualifier as a freshman, placing eighth with a 40-9.75 … recorded a 109-10 javelin throw.

Ryan Hughes (OL, 6-6, 310, The Woodlands, Texas; The Woodlands High School)
Three-star recruit … rated by 247Sports as the nation’s No. 74 offensive tackle and No. 139 overall prospect in Texas. 

Travis Jackson (DL, 6-4, 240, Tyler, Texas; Tyler Legacy High School)
Ranked by 247Sports as the nation’s No. 30 edge rusher … also the No. 61 overall recruit in Texas … three-star prospect … 10-6A First-Team All-District as a senior … had 69 tackles his senior year with 11 for loss and four sacks … also contributed four quarterback pressures and a fumble recovery for a touchdown … 10-6A Second-Team All-District and Tyler Legacy’s Defensive Most Valuable Player his junior year … totaled 63 tackles, including 15 for loss, with 7.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, one recovery and two pass breakups as a junior … had 19 stops with a sack as a sophomore … ran an 11.68 in the 100.

Braylon James (WR, 6-2, 202, Round Rock, Texas; Stony Point High School; Notre Dame)
Played in four games for the Fighting Irish this season … his lone reception went for 12 yards against Pittsburgh … consensus four-star recruit at Stony Point … Under Armour All-American … rated by ESPN as the nation’s No. 10 wide receiver and 60th overall player as well as the No. 12 recruit in Texas.

Tristan Johnson (DL, 6-3, 270, Hurst, Texas; L.D. Bell High School)
Three-star signee … the nation’s No. 125 defensive lineman by 247Sports … also rated as the No. 172 prospect in Texas … totaled 60 tackles, including 18 for loss with 10 sacks as a senior … also forced two fumbles … closed his junior year with 49 stops, five for loss, four sacks, three fumble recoveries and two pass breakups … also competed in the discus for the track and field team.

Julian Knox (CB, 6-2, 190, Fort Worth, Texas; North Crowley High School)
Three-star recruit … the nation’s No. 63 cornerback by 247Sports and No. 111 overall prospect in Texas … moved to defense as a senior … rushed for two touchdowns on 11 carries as a reserve quarterback his junior year.

Kyle Lemmermann (PK, 6-2, 210, Southlake, Texas; Carroll High School)
The nation’s top kicker in the 247Sports Composite … also rated the No. 285 recruit in the state of Texas … selected to the All-American Bowl … First-Team District 4-6A … made 8-of-10 field goals as a senior with a long of 50 … converted all 92 of his PATs … also served as his team’s kickoff specialist, totaling 88 touchbacks on his 128 kickoffs … averaged 39.5 yards on punts with six of his 15 boots being placed inside the 20.

Eric McAlister (WR, 6-3, 195, Azle, Texas; Azle High School; Boise State)
Named the Mountain West Offensive Player of the Week after tying a career-high with seven receptions for 160 yards and a touchdown in a 32-7 win over Wyoming this season … appeared on the Biletnikoff Award Midseason Watch List … had 47 receptions for 873 yards and five touchdowns in nine games … totaled 58 catches for 1,132 yards and nine scores in his two seasons as a Bronco … rated by 247Sports as the No. 67 wide receiver in the nation at Azle. 

Cooper McDonald (LB, 6-3, 245, Haslet, Texas; Northwest High School; San Diego State)
Played the last two seasons at San Diego State after two years at Washington … totaled 78 tackles with 8.5 for loss and 3.5 sacks in his career with the Aztecs … recorded a personal-best eight stops with a TFL against Utah State this year … made 10 starts while playing in all 16 games over his two seasons with the Huskies … District 4-5A Division II Defensive Most Valuable Player and honorable mention all-state as a senior at Northwest.

Kaden McFadden (S, 5-11, 185, Texarkana, Texas; Pleasant Grove High School)
Three-star prospect … ranked by 247Sports as the nation’s No. 113 safety as well as the No. 154 recruit in Texas … utilized at both safety and running back … Texas District 8-4 Division II Co-Defensive Newcomer of the Year as a sophomore.

Devondre McGee (CB, 6-1, 180, Conroe, Texas; Conroe High School)
Rated by 247Sports as the nation’s No. 47 cornerback and No. 94 recruit in Texas … three-star prospect … totaled 38 tackles as a junior with 12 pass breakups, an interception, two forced fumbles and a recovery returned 69 yards for a touchdown … also blocked two kicks … competed in track and field … ran a 10.91 in the 100 meters as a junior in addition to a wind-aided 10.98 … clocked a time of 22.67 in the 200 and long jumped 20-7.5.

Jaise Oliver (S, 6-2, 203, Fairfield, Texas; Fairfield High School; Tulsa)
Four-year letterman at Tulsa who played in 41 games … totaled six interceptions, including four this season … had a pick to go with five stops in this year’s game at Washington … recorded 112 tackles with three for loss as a Golden Hurricane.

Nana Osafo-Mensah (DL, 6-3, 264, Fort Worth, Texas; Nolan Catholic High School; Notre Dame)
Played in 39 games for the Fighting Irish … totaled 9.0 tackles for loss and 5.0 sacks among his 48 career stops … also had a forced fumble … had a personal-best season this year with 5.5 TFLs and 3.0 sacks among 20 stops … came out of Nolan Catholic rated by 247Sports as the No. 7 weakside defensive end nationally and No. 20 overall recruit in Texas. 

Nate Palmer (RB, 6-0, 185, Decatur, Texas; Decatur High School)
Rated by 247Sports as the nation’s No. 33 running back and No. 73 overall recruit in Texas … totaled 4,910 yards rushing, 79 receptions and 71 touchdowns in his prep career … rushed for 1,763 yards and 25 touchdowns as a senior … added 36 receptions and four receiving scores … ran for 2,250 yards and 25 touchdowns with 30 catches, including eight for scores, his junior year when he led Decatur to an 11-4 record and a Texas 4A Division I state semifinal appearance … Texas District 8-5A Division I Co-Offensive Newcomer of the Year as a sophomore for College Station High … ran for 897 yards on the ground with nine touchdowns and 13 receptions, helping his school to a 15-1 record and a 5A Division I state title game appearance … also ran track with times of 11.28 in the 100 and 22.80 in the 200.

Jeremy Payne (RB, 5-10, 170, Missouri City, Texas; Hightower High School)

Second-Team All-Big Sky Conference this season … had three interceptions and 11 pass breakups … two of his picks came against FCS playoff teams Idaho and Sacramento State … 16 of his 17 tackles were solo stops.

Cole Snodgrass (TE, 6-5, 230, The Woodlands, Texas; The Woodlands College Park High School)
Three-star prospect … ranked in the 247Sports Composite as the nation’s No. 67 tight end and No. 185 recruit in Texas … had 27 receptions for 446 yards and five touchdowns as a senior … had a long catch of 66 yards … added four rushing attempts for 53 yards and a touchdown … also competed in track and field … posted junior discus throws of 126-7 and 125-9.

Tobias Steppes (OL, 6-6, 280, Lancaster, Texas; Lancaster High School)
Rated by the 247Sports Composite as the No. 38 offensive tackle in the nation and No. 78 overall recruit in Texas … three-star prospect … also saw action on the defensive line.

Remington Strickland (OL, 6-4, 300, Sugar Land, Texas; Fort Bend Christian Academy; Texas A&M)
