No. 23 TCU was named U.S. Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) National Team of the Week on Wednesday.

TCU is the second Big 12 team to bestowed with the honor this season, joining Baylor.

The Horned Frogs are receiving the recognition for the week of Dec. 18-24. TCU (13-0) notched its longest winning in program history and finished undefeated in nonconference play for the first time ever with its wins over Omaha and Mount St. Mary’s on Dec. 20-22.

TCU won its pair of games an average of 46.5 points.

TCU’s 53-point margin of victory in its 87-34 defeat of Mount St. Mary’s on Dec. 22 was its largest in six seasons. The 34 points surrendered were tied for the seventh-fewest in a game in the program’s existence.

The Horned Frogs defeated Omaha 96-56 two days earlier, setting a Big 12-era record for total rebounds (59) and rebounding margin (plus-32).

TCU jumped two spots in The Associated Press on Monday. The No. 23 ranking is the program’s highest since holding the No. 22 mark from Jan. 28-Feb. 4, 2018.
